Quote from Hiosa on 2012/09/17, 02:08I joined this sever on November 4th, 2010. The only way to get whitelisted was to ask uncovery via minecraft.net forums. The server was relatively quiet with the occasional Toktorill running about. The original ranks were Member and Creator. The original^2 'world' map was a survival map but there were no mobs or any sort of death. About a month or so after joining, uncovery gave me creator status. I basically was able to spawn blocks and such. When the server was upgraded to pure survival and the map was switched to the 'world' map (what most of the older members remember), all creators were converted into V.I.P's. At first, these titles were merely only titles but little by little, uncovery gave us more power. If I recall correctly, a bunch of VIP's were suggesting a new rank between member and VIP and hence came the title Architect. The Member rank was changed to settler. We originally gave the name Architect becuase of how you earned this title. By building something amazing enough to get 2 or more VIP's to send in a recommendation. Later, citizen came and then the empire came to be. This server has been an amazing experience and I hope that it progresses steadily and smoothly for the times to come.
After the empire world came, I started to slow down my builds. I became more fascinated at watching others builds grow and helping this server. My most memorable builds are featured in my skylands lot. The Hiopoly Board, Chessboard and MiniMe were originaly in the 2nd 'world' map. I tend to draw blueprints on my flatlands lots and rebuild them in empire but I got lazy with doing the builds a second time so you will usually find me in city world sprucing it up. When I do build in flatlands for actual builds, I create pixel art. With the ban on 2D pixel art, I moved to 3D.
For a block to resemble me... I would have to go with light green wool. I am happy to help you with your build oAlb :)

Block: Lapis Lazuli Ore
I joined either January 31st or the 1st of February of 2012. To my knowledge I am the youngest and the only female of the Master/Elder group. Nothing too different has changed in the time I've been here besides a few updates, Kingdom and major builds that weren't in the city yet. Guests were a bit rarer at the time I joined, so I was treated quite kindly as a Guest. Someone gave me a tour of the city and that really stuck with me, although I can't remember who gave it to me.
My builds have been mostly for contests, to which I owe both my rank ups.
Senor Saguaro (cactus balloon)-Balloon Contest
Rocky Road to success (ice -cream balloon)-Balloon Contest
Uncovery National Bank and Conference Center-Underwater City Contest
Greenway Hospital-Zombie Contest
Water Tower
Helped with Rome and the UCT
Current Community Build is Future City with skilletfk, silver82, XMagnumX,Cr4ggers and kidcodiwise.
I have a few builds on my Empire lots that can't be finished until I get my remaining 2 lots such as my Mountain Base. I like to think that I am known for glowstone supplying and freestanding water fountain designs.
About me: I am a 16 year old female from the state of Texas. I am the eldest of 6 siblings, of which 3 of them have MC accounts and play actively on the server. In the process of applying to colleges and getting my pilots license. I plan to be an Aerospace Engineer and to go into the military after I get out of college.
Why I love the server: Community, in one word. In many it would be because of the level of interaction between everyone and the overall maturity of the users.

Quote from azkedar on 2012/09/17, 21:27I joined just over a year ago. I spent a lot of time early on mining and selling glowstone for profit, so you could find me a lot of the time wandering far out in the nether with 8 stone picks and a few pieces of food. I participated in most of the contests from that point, my first big build being my treehouse entry, which I'm now kinda embarassed of. I notably built a vast number (73 I think) of the small structures in Rome, as well as assisting with other parts of that city. I'm pretty proud of my Empire lots so far, even though only the middle 2 are really developed, and I've got a long way to go.
I also help out Uncovery with various small programming tasks as I am able, to help implement new features and ease the maintenance burden on our beloved and fearless server owner. This is why Uncovery granted me the chat title "Arch Coder." Aside from that purely cosmetic title, I am otherwise just another Elder (and a junior one, in terms of how long I've been around).
As for my real life, I'm a 33 year old programmer/analyst, married with 2 kids. My kids love minecraft too, but since my son is only 4, it'll be some time before he can pass the settler quiz. :)
Oh, and as for a block, how about netherrack? Going back to my roots with that one. :)

First Server: Friend invited me, private and tiny server, cozy.
Second Server: Humans began to go extinct, just after I was bombin' out my crater for a build idea I had.
So I went to Google, searched server list and stof, found Minestatus. checked it out, noticed a few, checked their websites, and Uncovery fit me bill.
I whitelisted in 2 minutes, logged in, walked around, checked the old Public Area, went to the map, found a snow biome by the river/ocean whatchamacallit, did the Settler Quiz in 5 minutes, collected materials while until it got accepted, went there and started buildin' a bridge, rail, platform, puny tree, Dug out a hole, got an ice roof, blahblah etceterraria.Date: February/mars 2011, Pluu was buildin' the lower bottom of his Hourglass Noob Tower.
Sociality: Didn't say much, since I'm the type that observes the surroundin' humans, and then increase my comfiness levels, and gain they're trust so I can rob their che- I MEAN, help them in dire need! I swear!
First Favorite: HIO-CHAN, since he had link skin, so he was instant kawaii! Naaaawwww! Then I think Pluu-yan? Since he's so kawaii too! Nyaaaawww! And other human slav-, fellow friends with names I like.
Skin: I think I was Steve before I made a- OMG PSIBER! Creeper behind you! -nd now I got a diamond skin since my name is diamond in Japanese English, AKA Engrish. Later added a creeper face since kddk STOLE my skin, plastered a real creeper face on it, and telepopped infront of me, "tryin'" to troll me!!1
Adapted behaviour: Due to my memory deficiency, I can't remember much how I was like a month ago. Currently, by the time this stupifyingly long text was written, I was phil and tropic, 'ice, passive +9, wierdy, constant lame jokes, OCD-ridden with symmetri, naturalism, visually pleasin', item collectin' (over 2 double chests of saddles), helpin' despite bein' busy with a friggin' puny tree, puny house, puny non-built city, puny junglethingie in Aether, puny hole with village and oppository language.
Events: Grand Tree built for unco's first contest: "lot" contest!
Found funny water pillar tower majjig in old public, found wood sculpture with lava under it, renovated old Public entrance to a harbour + bridge as seen on YouTube "Minecraft.Uncovery.net Public Area Quick Tour".
Pluu built the FF7 airship Highwind and puny cobble castle.
Sockie built his GARGANTIC village with the cake shop whose roof I copied to my cake shop in the city, miles away from the Portal House!
unco tryin' ta hide the fact that his lazer shark cracked the very earth, creatin' a one block wide ravine east to west.
A group of us messin' around in the Central Park I built with HCP fishin' in the pond which was forbidden! SO unco struck 'im with thor's might! HAHA!
Saw spiber and Clyra underground minin', when I had this rare "x-ray" visual effect, so I tried diggin' to 'em, goin' around dang chunk errors, and found my cousin Daiyamindori!
And there might have happened mo' stof, but my memory suddenly blue-screened. :<Rank: I got architect from the first contest "lot contest" and VIP (highest rank at that time) in the third contest "skyscraper contest", and then turned into Elder since I talk too much/help too much. It's just too much, man! AHH!
Basically, I was never a citizen for it didn't exist, nor a master. XDCan't thin' of anymo' stof ta write, dude... And ummm, KDDK SMELZ!
Hope this is little enough info.

Quote from Toktorill on 2012/09/25, 04:06Block: cobble. I'm old school.
I joined the server just a little while after it began, and have seen several worlds and hundreds of interesting personalities come and go.
In the first world (during Alpha), my home was a castle on the lake shore, with secret passages. I began a second, larger castle when that world was deleted.
In the old world, my home was an 80 wide circular ceiling of glass under a lake, dug down 30 deep into a three tier underground/underwater tree farm. It also had an underground 100 x 100 mob grinder, several mining levels, automated farming levels, a store (from the chest/sign shop days), and max-height lookout platform over the lake. Almost the entire lot had been used from water to bedrock.
In Empire I'm currently working on a 256-wide star shaped hole in an ocean. I am draining the water and digging 24 deep so this is taking an insane amount of time. I have plans for the star when it's complete, but for now I'm not telling. :p
IRL I'm a security systems technician in western Canada, married with two young boys. They like to sit on my lap and go OOOoooooo.

I'm 31, live in a small community on lake Erie with my sweet, beautiful wife. We like to experiment with cooking fancy foods, tasting fine wines, and eating yummy cheeses. I enjoy riding my bike at a casual pace, but for hours. I like to jog. I thought myself how to play the piano, and adore Chopin and Rachmaninoff. I'm a big Starcraft 2 fan.
Since high-school, I've worked off an on for lawn-care company, zoning out to audio books. Mining has a similar zen feel to it. (But without the exercise)
I worked briefly as an ER nurse, and I was in the final few semesters of school when I got cancer. I'm cured now, but due to medical complications, I'm now slowly studying to become a pharmacist.
Four years ago, chemotherapy damaged my brain. One of the resulting cognitive issues resulted in the complete destruction of my spacial understanding. For 25 years, I was predominately a visual thinker, and so needed a way to exercise this part of my brain back into functionality. I found minecraft, and it fit the bill.
Another apparent result of the chemo was frequent respiratory infections, often leading to pneumonia. While sick, since none of my friends had the time to play all day with me, and single player was getting a little lonely, I decided to take the plunge and find an server to play on. This was a big deal for me.
Uncovery is my first online community. I have (had?) a rule not to play an game where the world changed while I was not there. I refused to ever play any MMO. I theorize that the future bane of the lower class will be addiction to such games. By design, it's much easier to become successful in a game then in real life.
I mostly play minecraft when I'm sick. I joined early on, when the old "world" was only a Google spreadsheet showing lots. I'm the 7the member including uncovery himself! My lot was adjacent to Tok's famous under-water circle. I made a typical cobbleish fortress. Before charcoal, and before fortune picks, coal was more difficult to obtain. I was one of the first to use lots of smooth stone and glass to make some towers using the divine portion. Most of my builds tie in mathematically significant proportions into them. My first lot was crude by today's standards. But I'm proud to say, it inspired plutomaster to step up his game. And from there, things spiraled out of control. :-)
I built a order-depended push button combination lock, which played the zelda "secret" theme when opened. I built the red clock tower in the city, as well the little pirate ship next to it. I'm currently working on a large castle with blue turrets. This contains a functional tic-tac-toe board. I'm working on a tower for the 2 year anniversary contest. I've also, help build a lot of little things for a lot of people.
I've helped with one build, that means the most to me. And that's the server's community. I think we got lucky with our first group of people on this server; they're outstanding. And while some members came and went, I did my best to be friendly, fun, and helpful. I wanted to help build small, and meaningful relationships between myself and the members, between everyone here.
Uncovery keeps this server running like a fine watch, both technically, with game balance, and socially. I try to assist by spending as much time building unique and meaningful relationships with you outstanding people, as I do on my actual structures.
Uncoverites, thanks for the last few years. I love you all.

My previous builds include the Elysian fields consisting of over 12,000 wheat (before it was easy to make) Unc told me to never do that again, since the growing wheat lagged the server something fierce for a day or so. Other than that, I also made the gigantic underground library of alexandria, back when I was still spending 18 hours a day on this game. I finally decided to give everything up because the old world was becoming obsolete, and I was one of the few still in there. Moved to the Empire, and I am currently working on the temple of Uncovery, which will eventually be a giant mountain with a gigantic glowstone sphere (work in progress) on the inside, filled with floating islands and a gigantic statue of Unc, hoping to give it a bit of a jungle feel, if I ever manage to get around to it, haha.
Outside of minecraft, I'm a 26 year old chef (although currently quit my job, and in no hurry to find a new one. I'm enjoying my vacation, haha.) I'm one of those people who's actually getting paid to do his hobby every day, and loving it. <3

I started off with minecraft single player and realized that I wanted to play it from different computers w/o starting my world again. So I setup a server (with hMod at the time, 1.8.1 beta I think) and then thought I could also let other people in. The rest is basically in the blog :D.
I am 39 and love to dream of large builds. Unfortunately I often do not have the stamina to go through with them by myself. So some stuff like the death star are still only half done. I am better at building stuff that grows slowly like the castle or the jungle build in the kingdom. Of course with the server work, I do not have too much time to build, so all what I do is creative.
I really love the community here and how people work together on builds. I am very happy that there are so many good people that stick around, and I love to see how people develop their building skills over the months. I am very proud about the server and all of the people that helped making it what it is. We are finally one of the most successful servers around and that would not be possible without all you people here.

Given that I have a rather low resistance to obsessive behavior it was no surprise i got hooked on minecraft after 1 night in a dirt hut.
Starting out, after discovering minecraft threw a penny arcade comic I eventually torrented a copy of infdev and was instantly in love with the game. After spending a week playing beta ssp I went out to find a server to show off my amazing (or so i thought at the time) builds to the world. Luckily my first stop happened to be Uncovery. After failing the test 20 times I finally got in. In awe by the large builds of sockso, toktoril, koolkalang, and the gamma group (to name a few) I felt very inspired to build something amazing to put myself on the map. Thus I started work on what I called the Void Tower which eventually both got me recommended to architect and then elevated to VIP when it won the first 'Lot' contest. Making a lot of friends on the way like Daiyamondo, Lvasold, Sockso, Pinebenj, Hardcorepuding ext ext, we all started a sort of vicious cycle of "1up'ing" each-others builds and contest entry's until we pushed minecraft to its very limit.
Since those golden days I've toned down my minecrafting quite a bit and retired to being a humble elder who dose things here and there from time to time. Nowadays I have a job and other interests keeping me busy but I always enjoy the good old fun and great community of uncovery so i'm on when i can.
A little bout me: I'm 25 and am something of a gaming/computer nut with an Associates degree in IT, currently employed in woodworking as a CnC operator. I'm a focused and dedicated person who knows what I want and how to get it, but frequently have times where my creativity fails me, thus I usually minecraft in 'spurts'. Possessing a very dry and ironic brand of humor and a bit antisocial but I try to be friendly. Something of a redstone wiz once I'm warmed up (try not to get me started, I cannot stop). And I have a strange fascination with TNT cannons.
My Builds:
The Void Tower (currently located in the city, a large glass hourglass shaped building)
The Cathedral of Uncovery (city spawn)
City Spleef arena (with help from HCP)
Uncovery Conservation Tower (city)
Steam Paddle Boat (city)
Plutonia Grand Castle (city)
The Battleship 'Wrath of Uncovery' (Warhammer 40k battleship in skylands, WIP)
and any number of contest entry's and smaller builds.
Also currently assisting in design with pinebenj's Heavens Reach kingdom build.
I've had a grand time this last year and a half on Uncovery's ever amazing server and plan to stick around for a long time to come!

History: Luklukk (my wife's cousin) invited me to join the server a little over a year ago, he told me there was a group of great people and excellent builders, he showed me a few of the promo videos that were made and I was sold :). Since that time I have seen many more excellent builds, new creative people join the ranks, and have in my opinion gained many friends on the server. This is by far the best online community I've had the chance to take part in.
Builds: Pretty much everything is unfinished! I'm a huge fan of starting big ideas and having many large projects going. I do plan to finish these in the future. (after our Kingdom project of course!) All of my builds are in survival.
-Castle project - Empire (unfinished)
-Sky Casino Tower - Empire (unfinished)
-Skyscraper - Skylands (65% d0ne?)
-Townhouse for contest - Now in city (2nd place)
-Futuristic City project - Kingdom (work in progress, more info on this to come in a forum post!)
About myself:
My name is Drew, I'm 24 years old. I live in Maine, have a beautiful wife and 1 year old daughter :).
I work in customer service/management.
I enjoy online games in general, especially ones that I am able to work with others in.

About me: I joined in February 2011. I remember the days of Pluto being a Settler (yes, I know, hard to believe but it was once the case!), and all of the things I learned about MC, from building, design, and so many more things from all of the other users. Back in the old "world" I remember my first lot, where I constructed my entire base into one tiny mountain at the time. A little cobble base on the outside, but very much hidden away underground and throughout the mountain. You can always count on me for help, whenever you may need it. My true passion for this game lies with mob handling and redstone. You can come on over to my lots whenever you like, and you may not find many large buildings or unreal structures, but rather little contraptions everywhere and bases scattered throughout my current lots. It's been a really tedious, slow progression to where I am today, but I couldn't be happier on any other server. It's asked occasionally what makes the server that great, and for me personally there are two things: Uncovery himself and the amount of work he puts in, his generosity, and above all kindness, and second the actual community. Sure, we have a few bans every month, but beyond that there couldn't be nicer people out there. There are so many dedicated, kind, polite, and down to earth people on this server, and when you put so many great minds together, you only get great things. Happy two years, and here's to many more.
