Medieval Docks Contest!
Quote from pinebenj1 on 2013/06/23, 05:22As some of you know, I am currently working on a medieval city in the kingdom world; heaven's reach. I am posting here today, to give many of you the potential to make a lot of money.(potentially over 50 thousand uncs) The contest is for a docks/port district. It will include boats, merchant buildings, warehouses, etc. The contest will be split in to categories.
The categories area as follows:
Merchant buildings/residential buildings:
-max size 10x15(can go slightly bigger if you must)
-must use mostly wood(logs, planks, whatever)
-no wool allowed
-you may use glass(for windows)
-you may also use stone, netherbrick, cob, etc for small details only
-the roofs must be narrow, and not flat
-the entry must look good(see http://imgur.com/a/FYCos for the standards expected)If your entries/entry does not meet these specifications, it will not qualify for a reward:
Reward for this category: 2000 uncs for every design used in the city, and 4500 uncs for the best design
Misc clutter:
-cranes, stalls, fruit crates
-be creative
-try to stick with mostly wood, but use other materials as details
-must look good or it will not qualifyReward for this category is 500 uncs per design used, and 2000 uncs for the best design.
Industrial buildings/warehouses:
-must be shorter than the merchant/residential buildings)
-can be wider than the merchant buildings
-make it look like it's useful for storage, if it is a warehouse
-if you do something industrial, get creative
-use mostly wood, as made clear before(other mats for details)Defensive clutter:
-Trebuchets, catapults, barricades
-again, use mostly wood, etc...Reward: 750 uncs per sufficient design, and 2500 uncs for the best design
Boats:
We are looking for the best two medium-large sized boats. Make it look medieval. Look at reference pictures for a material guide.Reward: 6000 uncs for the best design, and 3500 uncs for the next best design
For all above categories, you are more likely to win if you are able to modularize your builds.(i.e make them easy to implement in other ways, by only slightly changing the design.)
There is no limit to how many times you can enter, however if your entries are not good, you are wasting your time.
To submit your entry, you must post a link to a download of the single player creative map, in which you have built your designs. You must also provide a description of your entry, and state which category it belongs to.
A good entry does not necessarily mean something that is overtly fancy/opulent. Please stick with the theme.
We are only looking for the exterior of the building. No interior decorations will be taken in to account when I decide the winners, so don't bother doing any.
Look at this album as a reference to the standard that is expected to earn rewards in this contest. http://imgur.com/a/FYCos
The contest ends on July 6th, so please submit your entries quickly. Good luck!

Quote from pinebenj1 on 2013/06/24, 22:13Upload your map to a website like mediafire, and post the link to the download.
Also, you can use sails on your boats, if you don't go too overboard.

Quote from miloisgooddrink on 2013/07/01, 20:14just knocked up an example of what i was telling you about the other day pine, wasnt sure if you wanted it in stone or wood but i felt wood was better for a shipwright (i remembered what it was called) was gonna add a bigger crane on the inside but i would have had to make thething larger, i might make another download with some more objects that could sit near this like cranes and cargo and such
