Thanks, I agree that it is quite dark atm. I wonder if there's a way of inverting the effects of day light sensors so that lights come on only at night.

Along your redstone wire put a solid block. Then on the side opposite of the source place a redstone torch. I use this for a lot of my daylight sensor creations.
