My lot was damaged. the person next to me was not on so their lot reset and took a chunk out of mine

I had been watching the lots after chunks appeared. The lot next to me had someone that was going to expire around the end of December. Guess what the person’s lots reset. Look at the chunk next to my contest build. It is not a void. It is a lot reset. There is a floating island on that lot that was not there before. When people’s lots reset due to not being on it resets all the lots, including contest lots. Contest lots are listed as a person’s lot also. People mights want to see who has lots to each side of them and make note if that person’s lots are about to expire.
Uncover does not explain what happened. He states that he does not know and suspects the warps.

Also I was unaware that we can still place blocks on our contest lots after it closes. Is this correct?
The Contest lots do not reset. The error is coming from someone else.
Also: Since we have this issue with the holes, I did not revoke the editing rights yet. So people can fix their entries.
Well I was able to fix my lot. I think when it is closed a person can not enter it, but still build? I do not know. I would not suggest one should continue to build but I only put back what was damaged.
Or we should stop postulating about things we do not understand and just deal with the repercussions.
Actually it would be best to know what is making these missing chunks so that it can be fixed so it does not happen again. Just fixing the damage each time it happens does not solve the problem of it happening and it will continue to keep happening. Having this happen over and over gives extra work to fix when it would not take long to stop it from happening in the first place.
Postulating means – To assume or assert the truth, reality, or necessity of, especially as a basis of an argument. Those that have posted here on this have been posting on trying to discover what the problem is. We are posting what we have seen. We are not posting to start an argument. It is called brainstorming. I am sorry if you think we are arguing when we are having a debate. I know that no one understands what is going on but with enough people putting in their thoughts in on it someone might figure out what is going on.
I honestly thought it resets were from people’s lots resetting and was including the contest lots. The person next to me was off for so long that their lots reset. At that time the hole appeared and floating blocks. Sorry I was wrong in thinking that it was the cause.
I do hope that it is figured out before more of this happens. It has hit several contest lots. Wounder who is going to get hit next. Scar I was very sad when I saw that your lot was hit by the hole. I like your contest build. Would not be surprise if you win.
Guys if you start trying to “Fix” what the other said – and I mean both of you, I will simply ban you from commenting on the website or the forum.
If you feel attacked on the forum or if you disagree HOW someone argues or guesses or WHATEVER – Then simply DO NOT reply. Everything else is just feeding the anger. If you have something constructive to say, do so. Do NOT – please – start fixing the way other people argue.
The voting looks biased in my opinion. We have several Christmas tree scenes with considerable spread in the scores. Are friends or family ganging up to promote each other or undermine another? Making entries anonymous may help but does not solve this completely since friends and family can communicate. Maybe to model after diving competition scoring would be better: throw out the highest and lowest scores and do not show the results until the voting is over.
Yes that could happen, but remember. Votes are weighted. Higher ranks have higher weights.
There’s always going to be bias with a public voting system, it’s unavoidable. At the end of the day, Uncovery has the highest vote weight and the final say on entries, and the scores can move around quite a bit during the voting period.
I read something that said votes would be less biased if more people voted. After all, not everyone is biased to the same thing, so they will balance each other out.
It’s a human system. There will always be some bias. Also not every user votes on every entry.
Sun, probably with any voting some people are going to vote for their friends or people that they know. On the other hand, not every person. votes for every entry or every category in every entry so its probably kind of random how people actually vote. I know that I loved Scar’s entry and he is my friend but had to concede that KZR’s was better (don’t hurt me)! So I vote the way I thought was the most truthful. I find it easier to vote for people if I can tell what their entry is, and if their name is on it. Also, some of the tree entries really are better than other tree entries, even though they are both trees. In my opinion. Which, is, of course, only an opinion.
I agree with all you write Crstl. I am still very curious to see how the scores would change if you removed the three highest and the three lowest overall votes for each entry. If there is little change my concern is unwarranted.
It looks like the contest area got hit again over night in 2 spots. The faster people can vote the better before all the entries get missing chunks. When voting please do not take off for missing chunks. People are sometimes off for days and do not know that their entry got damaged. If any one voted low for my entry based on the missing chunk, please go back and look at it again. It has been fixed. Has anyone seen a chunk vanish when it happens or only after. Starting to get a bit scared to go there. Would suck if when one is walking that the ground goes away under their feet.
Been thinking a lot on what some people above have been saying on the contest not being right on the votes. Few suggestions. 1. That if you enter the contest then you can not vote on any one’s work, not just your own. 2. That no one can see what the score is until the contest is over. 3. Maybe a notice on the last 24 hours before the contest is closed.
