EElevator
Is there a plugin like EElevator? I am planning to build a skyscraper and it would be a hassle just to walk up. As for double stone slabs... If you do implement the plugin EElevator, you could just sell double half-slabs in the shop.
What we usually do is use a minecart elevator using the minecart plugin. So a 3-long rail consisting of a spawner block (in the correct direction), an elevator block, and a eject block. Put a pressure plate next to the spawner block, make sure rails are on all 3. Then build an identical setup somewhere above or below the first, with the elevator block exactly in the same X and Z.
Stepping on the pressure plate will spawn a minecart, launch you over the elevator block, which teleports you and your minecart to the other vertical location, and then ejects you. The minecarts travel quickly enough that it seems nearly instantaneous.
The main drawback is the colored wool and track is not a particularly attractive combo, but I just try to cover them up with something pretty so you don't see them unless you're using the elevator.
