Emeralds?!?!

So, as many of you know, there is an upcoming minecraft update with tripwires, pyramids, ender chests, etc. But, Notch also introduced a trading system involving emeralds. Now, In villages will that feature be available? or will Unc have a use for them? Since it would only be useful in the darklands, how would we do that? I just want to know whether or not Emeralds will be useful on the server other than decoration.

He will probably let them keep their original feature.

Its hard to say how the feature will develop until release. I will probably leave it as it is unless it's too disruptive. I would assume that player-player trading will be more effective.
