There are some good news from Spigot regarding the 1.8 update here. It seems that they have a version ready that is being tested now for bugs. I am hoping that there will be a release before the end of the year so that the plugin authors can work on it to update their plugins.

Have been watching it daily, indeed it is great news.
It may or may not relate to spigot (i’m not really sure what spigot is) but I also recently read that forge for 1.8 is being worked on.

As far as I know, Spigot full release 1.8 has been published (on Friday, according to md_5 post ta their forums).
Hope it could be applied in foreseeable future…
