Anniversary contest now open for voting! [Update!]

I have copied all the entries to the city so you can see them and fly around. To vote, you can now go on the voting page and start voting! In order to see the contest entries, do a /warp anniversary to be teleported to the contest entries. they are on both sides of the street. Each entry has a sign at the nearest entrance to show who built it.

All contest builds that have not been submitted on the website have already been dismantled and the blocks can be found in the builder’s deposit box. I will be refunding the other contest entries to the submitters soon.

Contest Entry submission, deadline extended!

Since we have the new contest entry system now online, where people build in a pre-defined lot, we have much more entries that were never finished. I have now created a new system where people can “submit” their entry and therefore declare it finished. Otherwise we will have to judge abstract art etc for people who did not build much more than a frame around their contest lot.

So you are required to actually put a name and a description of your contest entry on the website once you are certain that your contest entry is worth being judged. If you did not have time to finish (or even start it), just simply do not do anything.

So to submit the entry for the 2 year anniversary contest, please go to the contest manager website and enter a title and description for your contest entry, then press “submit”. Otherwise people cannot vote on it.

I extended the deadline because of this and the 1.4 release to November 4th!

Parkour Contest

The parkour contest is now copied over and ready for voting for those who have not done so yet. There were quite some issues with this one. First of all, I got delayed several times copying the entries. Luckily, with the new system, that will not happen again. Second of all, during the contest several of the people who submitted an entry moved their lot to the empire and the lot was reset. In the end we have 3 entries of which 1 I am not even sure who built it since it does not match at all the description (himisawesome’s one). I sent an email to him but did not get an answer. On top of that one user made the surface that much bigger than the rules stated and he refused to change it, so I disqualified him.

All the entries are now in the flatlands lot K10. Please go there ASAP and vote if you have not. I will close this finally on Friday.

Contest lots moved, please check your entry!

I have now moved the contest lots to a different area. Please go there and make sure there are no mistakes. Check that your building is there as expected and that you can edit the whole area. This was a manual process so there is a certain risk that something went wrong. Please do /contest warp 29 <id> to get to the now location!

New Contest lot! New joiners welcome!

I have now created a new contest lot. You can therefore join the contest again if you have not done so. The previous contest joiners are still on the old lot. I will move them over in due time. You do not have to do anything. We have now 400×400 space for contests, I hope that is enough!

Contest lot full!

The contest lot is full, I will have to move it to a larger space. Will try to do so today. Then wee will have place for 4 times more people than now. Did not really expect that…

New contest system!

There is a new contest system up now. It still announces the contest on the website, but you ‘join’ it in-game. It will assign you a creative or survival lot (depending on the contest). You can even teleport to that lot (if you are in the correct world). I still have to write a function that your entry automatically appears on the website for voting. All works through the new /contest command.

Please try out the system and tell me if the help functions are not clear enough or if there is anything to improve. I have created a new contest for everyone to work on! Since people build now in a separate lot, anybody can join in on any contest. Owners of a creative lot need to mine in the darklands to join a survival contest.

Zombie Contest Winners!

I have finished rating the contest entries! This one was hard since you had to make a broken building that still looked good, integrate traps, etc. Some really cool ideas came out and I am sure that the builds will be a great inspiration for all who take a look at them! Plus, we had quite a number of participants. I decided to split the submitters into 3 groups: Architects, Citizens and Settlers. Technically it is not THAT different to be a Citizen or Settler (none of them won a contest before), but I thought we can use a couple of higher ranks on the server, so there we go:

Architect
# User Score Prize
3 blakavalanche 3.72 32 Diamonds
2 silver82 4.02 64 Diamonds
1 Xecaria 4.31 Level up + 64 Diamonds
Citizen
3 JoBilly 2.45 32 Diamonds
2 mumurees 2.51 64 Diamonds
1 colossal92 3.06 Level up + 64 Diamonds
Settler
3 oALB 3.07 32 Diamonds
2 Dimetrex 3.11 64 Diamonds
1 kidcodiwise 3.24 Level up + 64 Diamonds

Congratz to all winners and thanks to all for participating! Also thanks to the masters & elders who decorated the streets around the new city area! The prizes will be in your deposit boxes. Please remove them from there once you get them!

Future contest system

I have thought on how to change and improve the contests so that people can participate no matter where their lot is. So here is the proposal:

For every future contest, I will make regions in either the skylands or flatlands where people can become members of to make their contest entries. This way, anyone can make an entry. If you are a flatlands owner, you can still go to the darklands and mine for stuff and use it for the contest. It will also make it easier for me to copy the entries and due to the region restriction there will be no more question how large to make it, and who make which contest entry. We will also be able to rate stuff easier, no more need for screenshots etc etc etc

All will be a whole lot easier.

Zombie Contest entries copied! Please all vote!

I have copied the zombie entries now to the city. Please go to the city, enter
/warp zombies
and take a good look at all buildings! Each building should have a name somewhere near the entrance with the creator on it! Please vote!

If you have a build submitted, please ask an elder to place pictures and beds for you again since they get lost during the copy process…

Zombie City contest has been closed – no need to vote yet!

I have closed the zombie contest today. However there is no need to vote yet. Unfortunately a significant amount of users did not submit screenshots. I want to take the time to copy the entries to the city so people can wander around and cast proper votes. I will make an announcement once all entries are copied. Unfortunately I will be traveling for the next 2 weeks so do not expect this to happen in the next 24 hours.

Roller coaster contest winners!!

I have closed the voting now for the roller coaster contest and here are the winners! Since there were relatively few entries they are not grouped by level.

  1. Fireguy12 wins a stack of diamonds!
  2. electrofuzz6
  3. slash14459

Congratz to all winners!

Since this is a creative contest, and the first one on top of that, we cannot give out prizes like level upgrades and items are not really useful in creative either. The challenge for a creative contest is a completely different one than for the survival contests as discussed before. I will keep the results in mind and will judge on rewards combined with other contests etc.

Egypt contest closed!

I finally had some time to rate the 28 entries of the egypt contest myself and further voting is now closed. It was quite difficult to vote on such diverse builds but since this time the base of voters was much bigger, I guess we have a fairer vote.

I have grouped the contestants into groups Citizen, Elder and Settler, only one architect participated so I included him in the elders. People who submitted 2+ entries are ranked only on the highest ranking one. Please note that user levels are those that you had when you submitted your entry.

Settler Ranks:

  1. thomas_dauber, 3.3 points wins a level up & stack of diamonds
  2. jobilly, 2.62 points. wins a stack of diamonds
  3. patpat2211, 2.56 points wins a 1/2 stack of diamonds

Citizen Ranks

  1. blakavalanche, 3.62 points, wins a level up & stack of diamonds
  2. youny, 3.17 points. wins a stack of diamonds
  3. kidkodiwise, 2.96 points wins a 1/2 stack of diamonds

Elder Ranks

  1. azkedar, overall best score 4.57 wins 3 stacks of diamonds
  2. lvasold, 4.03 points, wins a stack of diamonds
  3. plutomaster, 3.68 wins 1/2 stack of diamonds

Congratz to everyone & thanks for participating, you all helped make uncovery a better place! The winning should arrive in your deposit soon.

Egyptian Contest copied! Everyone Vote please!

ATTENTION: Everyone can now vote on the contests!

I have now copied all entries of the egyptian contest to the city. Please everyone go there, take a look and vote. The best method would be to do a /warp egypt, walk from building to building and look for the name signs. Then search on the contest website for the corresponding entry and vote on it.

The only entry that was not copied is the one from patrickm129 since it is made only out of half-buildings, half-walls etc. It is a nice diorama so to say but not usable in the city. You can vote on it from the screenshots or go to his lot and take a look.

Adventure Contest closed!

I just closed the adventure contest. Unfortunately only 2 people participated. While luklukk got the better rating, and is therefore the winner, I want to thank both for participating. Deltascout11 will get a credit for future creative contests. I still have to finalize a system how people get a level upgrade for winning creative contests. Luklukk will win a stack of diamonds! We already moved his entry to the city, and you can start his story by going to the story house next to the portal house. Check it out!
